Privacy Policy for the mytaxi Passenger App

mytaxi provides the mytaxi Passenger app ("mytaxi Passenger App") through which taxi passengers ("Passengers") can book a taxi transportation service from taxi drivers that are using the corresponding mytaxi Driver App ("mytaxi Driver App"). This privacy policy applies only to the mytaxi Passenger App and provides Passengers with information about the nature, scope, and purpose of the collection, processing and use of their personal data by mytaxi as the responsible data controller. mytaxi places great importance to the protection of the Passenger’s personal data.

1. Categories of personal data

In order to use the mytaxi Passenger App, you will need to provide certain personal data during the registration process, in particular first and last name; title; phone number; and email address ("Registration Data"). You will also be asked to create a username and password. You may also upload a photo to help drivers locate you and register a credit card to pay for your trips. 

While using the mytaxi Passenger App, mytaxi collects, processes and uses also the following personal data about you: User ID; location data; information on immediate and advanced booking requests; claims under promotion codes; information on number of tours, customer referrals; payments by the Passengers (including amount of fares and gratuity); information about the corresponding driver. 

When you take a trip booked or paid for using the mytaxi Passenger App, we collect details about the trip including the time of your trip, the route which your driver takes and the amount which you pay for the trip. This information is collected through the driver's device. 

mytaxi also collects, processes and uses the ratings (1 to 5) given by the Passengers about the driver and the driver's taxi. 

In case the Passenger and mytaxi communicate, mytaxi collects, processes and uses the details of the communication. Each time the Passenger accesses the mytaxi Passenger App, mytaxi collects certain device and usage information (User ID, date and time of access, browser type and operating system used, IP address, unique device identifier, subpages of mytaxi Passenger App visited).

2. Cookies & Analytics

Cookies are small files that enable the recognition of a specific end device. They are primarily used to optimize ease-of-use and our Driver App offering. 

The mytaxi Passenger App uses the service “Mixpanel” from Mixpanel Inc. Mixpanel makes it possible to understand certain user activities and helps us to improve our services. Solely the usage processes themselves are recorded in a pseudonymized manner. The thus collected information regarding usage behavior within the mytaxi Passenger App is used to further improve our services. We are also working with analytics service providers to meet the demands of our customers. During the analytics only usage data (IP address, in app events (installation, de-installation etc.)) are processed. You can deactivate the analytics any time for the future through the settings in your operating system, mailing us at or by switching “Disable Analytics” in your profile.

3. Purposes of data processing

The above mentioned personal data about the Passenger are collected, processed and used by mytaxi in compliance with applicable law to provide the mytaxi Passenger App to the Passenger, to optimize the ease of use of the mytaxi Passenger App, to assist Passenger with the payment process in case of payment by passenger via app, to communicate with Passenger, as well as for purposes of advertising, market and opinion research or customizing the services provided in connection with the mytaxi Passenger App. 

We collect location data to ensure that you are getting good quality service. 

We use your data in order to identify potential payment fraud. This evaluation may be carried out: (i) on an automated basis by our fraud prevention partner; and/or (ii) by specifically trained mytaxi employees. We also analyse your data in order to optimise the mytaxi Passenger App.

4. Sharing your data with third parties

mytaxi discloses the name, photo, telephone number and start location of the Driver to the passenger that requests taxi transportation services from the Driver. In case of a request for taxi transportation services by a passenger to the Driver, the mytaxi Driver App of the passenger stores the Passenger's name, photo and phone number for 24 hours after disclosure so that the Driver may contact the Passenger in case of lost items. Thereafter, the phone number will be deleted from the mytaxi Driver App of the driver. 

mytaxi will share your data with our fraud prevention partner which uses algorithms to assess the possibility of fraudulent activity. We may suspend your ability to pay for trips using the payment function in the mytaxi Passenger App if our fraud prevention partner (and/or mytaxi through its own internal investigation) flags a potential fraud risk. You can continue to use the mytaxi Passenger App to book taxis and may pay the driver directly for your trip using cash or card. Where we suspend this payment functionality based solely on the information provided by our fraud prevention partner, we will notify you of this fact and you can contact us at if you want to query or object to this suspension. We will take your view into account and re-examine our decision. 

We may also share your personal data with any member of our group of companies and with third parties providing services to us.

5. Transfer of personal data

mytaxi may engage affiliates as well as third party service providers to provide technical and administrative support with the mytaxi Passenger App and/or the related services for taxi transportation services to the passengers. Such third parties may need to have access to the personal data of the Passenger to provide their support services. Such third parties may be based in countries outside the EEA.

6. Data Privacy Rights

The Passenger has the right to request access to personal data which mytaxi holds about them by sending a written request to:

Any access request may be subject to a fee of EUR 6.35 to meet mytaxi's costs in providing the Passenger with details of the information mytaxi holds about the Passenger. The Passenger can access, correct and delete their data through their mytaxi account or by sending an email to

The Passenger may object to the use of his/her personal data for direct marketing, advertising purposes and market and opinion research. You can exercise your right to prevent such processing by checking certain boxes on the forms we use to collect your data or by contacting us as set out below.
